Helen Skelton has candidly discussed her insecurities about her appearance in a new interview, following ongoing speculation about a romantic relationship with her BBC colleague Gethin Jones.
The 43-year-old Morning Live presenter told Closer magazine, as reported by The Daily Mail, that she wished “everything was a bit perkier” regarding her body, adding, “But it’s not.” Despite these feelings, the mother of three said, “We are where we are and I’m grateful.”
Active Lifestyle and Workout Preferences
Skelton, who is known for her active lifestyle, currently trains three times a week for The Great North Run in September. However, she prefers incorporating “little things” into her routine, such as “doing 20 squats while you’re waiting for the kettle to boil.”
“I enjoy exercise and I enjoy the feeling afterwards, but it's not always a lot,” she said. Previously, she has emphasized that her priority in exercise is mental health rather than aesthetics, stating she goes to the gym “for joy, not aesthetics.” She told Woman & Home: “I like movement and sport. I'm not one for those shouty, dark gyms – I get enough of that energy at home with my kids!”
Addressing Dating Rumours
The speculation about her relationship with Gethin Jones has persisted, especially after they were photographed together outside the BBC studio last year and attended events side by side, including ITV’s Pride of Britain Awards in October and a Royal Television Society event in Manchester.
Skelton has repeatedly denied the rumours, insisting they are “just best friends” in a recent interview with The Times. She said: “We're not. We work together; he's one of my best friends.” The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant revealed the speculation has become so widespread that even close friends have been fooled: “I've had my best friend congratulate me on our engagement.”
Earlier this year, she told The Mirror: “[Gethin and I] just work together, we are not together. No, no, no. We are just work friends. They printed pictures of us at work and [claimed] that we're together, [but we were] at work together.”
Jones also appeared to dismiss the rumours during an appearance on Christine McGuinness’s Situationships podcast, responding simply “Join the club” when the topic of long-term singledom arose.
