Victoria Beckham has disclosed that her daughter Harper's severe battle with acne motivated the teenager to launch her own beauty brand. The former Spice Girl, 51, whose fashion and beauty empire is valued at approximately £500 million, explained that Harper had always been ambitious, but her skin issues provided the impetus for her entrepreneurial venture.
Harper's Skin Struggles
During an appearance on the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast, Victoria recounted: 'She came to me two or three years ago and she was really struggling with her skin. She used to have beautiful skin, but like all young girls she was enticed by beauty brands and she was putting a lot of product on her face that was not suitable for her skin and consequently ended up going to see a dermatologist because her skin was really, really bad.'
Victoria recalled her own battles with acne and empathised with her daughter's challenges. Harper said: 'I want to create a brand because I know what I want and I don't want other people to have to go through what I have been through.'
Harper's Business Acumen
The ambitious teen even presented PowerPoint proposals to her mother during the early stages of developing her beauty line. Victoria noted: 'She's been sitting on my lap taking part in beauty development meetings ever since she was little.' Harper's brand, reportedly targeting Gen Z and Gen Alpha, draws inspiration from South Korean cosmetics and is scheduled to launch in late summer.
Spice Girls Hologram Show Rumours
Meanwhile, the Spice Girls are reportedly in discussions for an ABBA-style hologram concert to commemorate their 30th anniversary, following the cancellation of their reunion tour. Bandmates Mel B, Geri Horner, Mel C, Emma Bunton, and Victoria had been negotiating a series of performances to celebrate three decades since their debut single 'Wannabe'. However, reports last month indicated that an agreement could not be reached.
Now, the group may emulate ABBA Voyage, which launched in 2022 and transformed the band into digital avatars. Victoria commented on SiriusXM radio: 'I think it would be a great idea. The principle of it would be great. We were talking about it at dinner, but we'll see.'
A source revealed that former manager Simon Fuller is keen on this concept, stating: 'Simon is desperate to have one last hurrah with the Spice Girls and this is his latest idea. He was the person who came up with the original idea for Abba and their digital show and he thinks this model could work perfectly for the group. Simon knows this plan would mean the band would be making money in their sleep and it would open up their music to a whole new generation.'
Spice Girls Legacy
Victoria last performed with the band during the 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony and previously joined them on their 2007-08 world tour. Geri left the group in 1998 mid-tour, and the band went on hiatus two years later. The Spice Girls shot to fame in 1996, with 'Wannabe' reaching number one in 37 countries. They achieved nine UK number one singles and two number one albums. After leaving, Geri launched a successful solo career with four UK number one singles.
