Halle Berry, who turned 58 last week, turned heads in New York on Thursday wearing a stylish black and grey striped jumpsuit. The actress paired the outfit with gold jewellery and black open-toed heels, letting her short wavy brunette hair down.
Berry appeared on Good Morning America to promote her upcoming film The Union and to discuss her menopause journey with host Robin Roberts. She revealed that she was diagnosed with menopause at age 54, but no doctor had spoken to her about it beforehand. 'I thought, wow, if I have one of the best doctors in California and he didn't really understand what this was, that made me realise there must be millions of women that don't understand this,' she said.
Berry was initially misdiagnosed with herpes and now dedicates herself to spreading awareness of perimenopause and breaking the stigma. 'It's not a disease; don't make it a negative. Let's talk about it,' she urged. She wants women as young as 35 to start preparing for the transition.
The mother of two has been open about her health journey since being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes as a young woman. She maintains a healthy lifestyle and works out multiple times a week, telling Shape in 2023 that her diagnosis 'put my focus on my health and put me on a wellness routine that has allowed me to not only age gracefully but also to be in better shape than most people.'
Her personal trainer, Peter Lee Thomas, praised her dedication, saying she could easily become a professional athlete. He noted that she trains five days a week and is not afraid to take risks in fitness. 'She's putting in the work. She doesn't mess around,' he told E! News in 2018.
