Secret Lives of Gypsy Wives Star Dismisses Mormon Wives Comparison
Gypsy Wives Star Rejects Mormon Wives Show Comparison

Trewley-Precious Wass, a star of the upcoming Channel 4 reality series Secret Lives of Gypsy Wives, has addressed comparisons to the hit show The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, insisting the two programmes are “so different.”

Setting the Record Straight

Appearing on Friday’s (July 17) episode of Good Morning Britain, the 26-year-old TikTok influencer, who has 942,000 followers, shut down similarities between the shows. Speaking to hosts Kate Garraway and Ranvir Singh, Wass said: “I love that show but I do feel that this is so different.” She explained that while Secret Lives of Mormon Wives focuses on a group of women navigating their lives, Secret Lives of Gypsy Wives centres on siblings from mixed cultural backgrounds trying to navigate without the “captain of the ship.”

Unique Family Dynamics

Wass elaborated on the cultural contrasts within her own family. Unlike many Traveller families, she and her sisters Ruby Ann, Honey, Peaches, and Pearly Girl were raised on a council estate in Essex rather than in a caravan. Her late father, Sidney “Siddy Boy” Temple, who passed away in November 2024, was a traditional Romany Traveller, while her mother is a non-Traveller. Wass admitted there was a “culture clash” growing up, saying: “When I was growing up, I had a bit of a culture clash, that was very hard. Where I wasn’t full, I wasn’t accepted that way, where I was half, I wasn’t accepted this way so I had to make my own path.”

Show Premise and Ambitions

The series follows Wass as she pursues her ambition of becoming a social media sensation while balancing the demands of her traditional Traveller family. In the show’s trailer, she quips: “We’re like the Kardashians. Like the Kardashians if they were broke.” Wass expressed surprise at landing the show, saying in a recent TikTok video: “I know nobody I know, everyone was anticipating me to launch my own TV show. I’ll be honest with you, I didn’t think when I walked into the Channel 4 room that I was going to get it. But quite frankly I did get it and we have worked extremely hard on it.”
