Groom motorboats bride at altar instead of kissing her

A groom celebrated his wedding by motorboating his new wife at the altar instead of kissing her, in a moment captured on video that has since gone viral on TikTok.

Wedding officiant Nathan Grieve posted a clip from the ceremony of Adelina and Riley, who looked delighted after saying 'I do'. But instead of going in for a smooch, the groom buried his head into his new wife's chest.

Thankfully, Adelina seemed to find it funny when her husband Riley motorboated her in front of her nearest and dearest at Southwood Estate in Canada.

Video sparks mixed reactions

However, when the video went viral on TikTok, others admitted they wouldn't have reacted in the same way if they were in her shoes.

Officiant Nathan posted the clip with the caption: “Riley immediately celebrated his new wife in a way that will absolutely be remembered at family gatherings for years to come."

"Because apparently that wasn't enough, the SECOND they finished their kiss and started their walk back up the aisle... their music wouldn't play but a car alarm went off in the parking lot, marking the beautiful moment."

"Perfect timing. Perfect chaos. Perfectly Riley & Adelina."

Commenters divided over gesture

The video garnered more than 5,800 likes – and hundreds of people took to the comments to share their thoughts.

Some thought the groom's raunchy gesture was "inappropriate" and "disrespectful" for a wedding ceremony, with one commenter arguing: "That is such a red flag though."

"It shows a lack of respect for her and their families. My husband makes motor boating and other dirty jokes on a near-daily basis but you will never ever catch him saying it in front of other people."

Another said: "This is at the centre of a venn diagram of things you shouldn't do at your wedding." A third commented: "That would be grounds for divorce."

A fourth raged: "How embarrassing and distasteful." And another added: "Doing that in front of family is crazy news."
