MasterChef star Gregg Wallace has revealed the simple dietary changes behind his impressive 4.5-stone weight loss. The 57-year-old, who also presents BBC's Eat Well for Less, said he abandoned fad diets in favour of balanced home-cooked meals and regular exercise.
Wallace, who is 5ft 8in, weighed 16st 7lb at his heaviest. He admitted he was “overweight and wasn’t happy” and initially wanted to lose weight to “look better on the telly”. He tried various restrictive diets, including fasting and low-carb plans, but found them “really uncomfortable” and left him “horribly hungry and miserable”.
His successful approach involved cutting out snacks, alcohol and takeaways, replacing them with “three large, filling, healthy, balanced meals every day”. He emphasised the importance of changing habits gradually, saying: “All you’ve got to do is change habits. That fun [over indulging] can cost you your health.”
Wallace now displays a six-pack and has launched the fitness brand Show Me Fit to inspire others. He recommends regular weighing to track progress, noting that losing weight “honestly wasn’t a struggle” once he adopted a sustainable lifestyle. His ultimate goal is to have “the body of a 20-year-old at 60”.
