Gorka Marquez has joked that there will be no third child after fiancée Gemma Atkinson fell violently ill during a rare child-free getaway to Spain. The former Strictly Come Dancing star and the Hollyoaks actress had escaped for a romantic 36-hour break without their two children, Mia (6) and Thiago (2), but the trip took an unexpected turn.
Gemma's Self-Inflicted Illness
Gemma admitted responsibility for her misfortune, saying: "I got ill, of course I did, I get ill whenever I go away. It was literally my own fault. There's nothing I can say other than I was a greedy, indulgent pig." She explained that her poor menu choices at a restaurant led to a night of "projectile vomiting," which she described as an "exorcism."
Gorka had pointed out that Gemma's meal was carb-heavy with no protein, a departure from her usual balanced diet. Gemma protested: "Normally at home, I prioritise my protein, my fibre, my fat. I'm good." Gorka, who had prepared for a romantic evening, complained: "I was getting ready – shave that bush and everything for the night."
No Third Child Planned
Gorka quipped: "That's why there's no child number three. I think she does it on purpose." Gemma denied pretending to be ill, insisting it was a result of her indulgent eating.
Property Dreams and Brexit Woes
The couple also discussed Gemma's impulsive plan to buy a property in Spain. She admitted: "I naively thought, it's the same as the UK. You go over, you buy it, stamp duty, done." Gorka revealed that while he was in New York, Gemma booked flights and organised viewings without proper research. He suggested: "I think we should go multiple times. I think we should also next trip go with the kids, see what the kids like."
Gemma highlighted post-Brexit travel difficulties: "We have to go through security separately now because of Brexit. He flew through, of course he did, because it's his motherland. I was in a queue for ages. I had to do my fingerprints. I had to say where I was staying. Could we afford to stay there when I was leaving? Felt like a criminal I did."
