GMB Fans Demand Piers Morgan Return After Susanna Reid Reunion

Good Morning Britain fans have called on Piers Morgan to return as a permanent host after his guest appearance on the ITV breakfast show sparked an outpouring of support on social media. Piers appeared on the programme on Monday (July 20) to discuss Andy Burnham's forthcoming appointment as prime minister, reuniting with his former co-host Susanna Reid and guest presenter Ed Balls in the GMB studio for the first time in five years.

Viewers React to Piers Morgan's Return

The reunion prompted a wave of reaction from viewers, with many insisting the show has never been the same since Piers departed in March 2021, when he famously walked off set after stating he did not believe claims made by Meghan Markle during her and Prince Harry's interview with Oprah Winfrey. "You are so missed on Breakfast TV @piersmorgan. Made my day seeing your lovely face today," one viewer posted on X (formerly Twitter), while another declared: "Piers should never have left. Good Morning Britain has never been the same without him."

A third fan added: "Fantastic to see @piersmorgan back on @GMB this morning. Too many folk sit on the fence, afraid to voice their opinion in fear of being cancelled. That's one thing with Piers, whatever your opinion of him, what you see is what you get!"

On-Screen Reunion Highlights Chemistry

The warmth of the on-screen reunion only added fuel to calls for a permanent comeback. Susanna wasted little time in launching into an interview with Piers by raising the topic of Andy Burnham, shortly before her former colleague interjected, saying: "Hello, by the way!" Ed quipped: "We've not got time for that, we've got a big interview on... with you!" to which Piers replied: "I know you have, but at least say, 'Lovely to see you back.'" Susanna promptly rose from her seat to embrace him, with Ed swiftly following suit.

Susanna said: "Nice to see you. Great to have you [back]. Now, we're in a completely different building, I can break my hug omertà," with Piers jokingly adding: "[Now] you don't have the PTSD!"

Political Discussion and Agreement

As the conversation moved on to politics, both Susanna and Piers were left lost for words upon discovering they were in agreement. Susanna said: "How come we agree? This is weird," with Piers adding: "This is very unsettling." Reflecting on their time apart, Piers said: "I think in most relationships, you have a few years off after a very intense marriage, [which] is what we had. And then after time, all the little annoying things, like the way you used to chew your pen, all that stuff, it all just fades away and we remember the good times."

For many fans watching at home, the chemistry on display only strengthened their case that Piers belongs back behind the GMB desk full time. Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 6am.
