Geri Horner, the former Spice Girl known for her bold fashion in the 1990s, now exclusively wears white, and she has revealed the unexpected inspiration behind her strict wardrobe choice.
Why Geri Only Wears White
Speaking on the Table Manners podcast with Jessie Ware and her mother Lennie, Geri explained that she sees white as her "uniform," which saves her considerable time when getting ready each day. She said: "I went through a period when I was in my 20s, wearing black all the time. But I've gone through different theories. I looked at a lot of guys, and they always wear the same thing."
She cited tech moguls like Steve Jobs as examples, noting that they wear the same thing like a uniform. Geri added: "I thought, 'Well, actually, how much time do you use getting ready?' That was one thing, and everything matches. It keeps things simple."
Melanie C's Wedding Warning
Her bandmate Melanie C even warned her about wearing white before her wedding to Chris Dingwall. However, Geri still wore a white dress with a floral pattern to the ceremony in the Lake District. Melanie C told Australian radio station Kiis1065: "I did have a little chat with Geri because it is her favourite colour. She wears it every day. But she had a beautiful floral dress on, and it was white white... I did have a little giggle with her about that."
Geri's Fashion Evolution
In a 2023 interview with OK! Magazine, Geri said wearing white "matches everything" and makes life simple, likening it to "wearing a school uniform as an adult." She also told The Sunday Times: "There's a power in covering up, I didn't realise that, I don't need to overshare." Her decision to wear only white or cream has sparked curiosity among fans, but for Geri, it's a practical choice that keeps her mornings effortless.
