Gamer Girl Julia Burch Reveals Celebrity DMs from Actors and Athletes

An adult content creator has revealed why her direct messages are inundated with actors and athletes after she became the internet's latest 'girlfriend fantasy'. Canadian social media personality Julia Burch told Daily Mail that she has cultivated an online following thanks to her gamer-girl persona.

Celebrity Encounters

As a result, the Los Angeles-based star, 25, is often left starstruck when celebrities and sporting names send her messages on Instagram. 'There's one that stands out the most for me – an actor from the US series Shameless,' she claims. The content star admits the conversation never went far because she receives such a 'crazy amount of DMs'. She claims some men message her every single day hoping to catch her attention.

However, it wasn't Julia who was excited by the surprise message – it was her twin sister, Lauren. 'She thought it was really cool because she had watched Shameless before and she was a really big fan,' says the creator, who has two million followers on Instagram. 'There has also been a famous footballer in my DMs at one point, too,' she adds.

The Appeal of Gamer Girls

The content creator believes gamer girls have become one of the internet's biggest obsessions because they feel more 'real' and attainable than polished influencers. 'I think a lot of people see gamer girls as more approachable and relatable. When I stream, I try not to put on a persona,' she says. 'I just want it to feel like everyone is hanging out together and being themselves.'

Julia says many fans begin treating her like their 'real-life gamer girlfriend'. 'I definitely think some people feel that way. As long as it doesn't get taken too far, I think it's sweet,' she adds. 'A lot of guys love the idea of a girl who wants to stay in, play video games and just hang out.'

Dream Celebrity

Julia goes on to say that there is one celebrity she is yet to hear from that she would love to see a message from one day. 'Lady Gaga is really cool, I just love her personality and music. She doesn't give a crap about what anyone thinks about her,' she says. 'She's just truly, wholeheartedly herself and she inspires other people to also be themselves. She's a really great role model.'

The Dark Side of Fame

Despite the glamorous attention, Julia admits internet fame also comes with a darker side. 'I've definitely had a lot of mean comments throughout my years on social media. It's hard to avoid,' she recalls. 'I ignore them at this point but in the beginning, the negativity always stood out more than the positivity. I wasn't used to getting so much attention from strangers online.'

But Julia believes staying authentic is what keeps fans coming back. 'I try to be as authentic as possible because a lot of people can come off as really fake or performative online,' she adds. 'I just want to portray a true version of myself and be real. I think people connect with that because they feel like they can relate more.'
