Marc Bautista, the fan who joined Foo Fighters on stage during their Anfield concert on Saturday, June 27, has described the experience as his 'f***ing dream'. The 31-year-old traveled approximately 862 miles from Barcelona with his girlfriend and friends to see his favorite band perform at Liverpool's Anfield Stadium.
Viral Moment on Stage
Bautista, dressed as a packet of Mentos in tribute to the band's 'Big Me' music video, was brought on stage during the song. He sang into the microphone and danced with the band as the crowd cheered. The moment quickly went viral on social media, with his Instagram video garnering 23,000 likes and earning him the nickname 'Mentos Man'.
Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl told the delighted crowd: 'When s*** like this happens, that means this is the night of our lives, so thank you.'
Fan's Perspective
Speaking to the ECHO, Bautista said the band 'didn't know anything' about him before he joined them. He explained: 'The photographer spotted me and started posting about it on Instagram, then the Foo Fighters reposted the photo and when the time came for Big Me, I think the whole crowd of people made some noise so they would see me.'
He added: 'It was awesome. This is my dream. This is my f***ing dream. In my head I was repeating 'keep calm, keep calm'.'
From Tribute Band to Anfield
Bautista performs in Spanish tribute band Foo Fakers, which he said does 'little shows' compared to the sold-out Anfield crowd. He noted that his girlfriend and friends were 'even more excited than I was because I was trying to process all of the emotions.'
'I didn't want to make a fool of myself while living out my dream. I am still processing it,' Bautista concluded.
