Hollywood star Eugene Levy has opened up about his experience filming with Prince William for the Apple TV show The Reluctant Traveler last year. The pair met in Windsor and shared a pint for the travel programme, and Levy reflected on what it was really like shooting with the Prince of Wales once the cameras were off.
Levy Impressed by William's Down-to-Earth Nature
Levy said: “You know what really struck me today? We’re all sweating the same stuff – work, health, family. And that’s true even for a future king. I was so impressed with the Prince of Wales. It was a charming few hours that we had together. I don’t know what I expected, you know, from a royal. The monarchy has always been so very formal, but with William… you didn’t get that at all. He’s a dad who goes to work, and then comes home and, you know, has dinner with his kids.”
He added: “There’s a normalcy to it that just surprised me. It took me aback, actually, a little bit. He was so down to earth, very funny, very bright. Got to be honest, he was fun to hang with.”
William's Cameo Earns Two Emmy Nominations
Levy went on to say: “I kind of hope when William becomes king, I’ll still be around to tell my grandson, ‘You see that guy wearing the crown? I had a pint with him once.’ And hey, as bucket lists go… this is gonna be pretty hard to top. Hard, borderline impossible. But we’ll give it a go.”
Prince William’s cameo has been nominated for two Emmy Awards, just hours after Meghan Markle received a nomination for her Netflix show With Love, Meghan. Meghan’s nod comes in the Outstanding Lifestyle Series category, while William’s appearance is nominated in both Outstanding Writing For A Nonfiction Program and Outstanding Hosted Nonfiction Series or Special.
