Ernie Hudson, best known for his role in Ghostbusters, has amazed fans by revealing his daily fitness routine at the age of 80. The actor performs 100 push-ups a day, despite not going to the gym.
Speaking on the Today show, Hudson explained that he does sets of push-ups throughout the day. 'When I get up I like to do a set of push-ups first thing and throughout the day. By the end of the day, I should have at least 100 push-ups,' he said. He also incorporates squats and planks into his routine.
Hudson emphasised the importance of staying flexible and capable as he ages. 'I was working with a good friend who was on a walker, and I thought, you know what, I want to avoid that as long as I can,' he reflected. He added that discipline and consistency are key to maintaining ability.
For those inspired by Hudson's regimen, experts recommend adjusting push-up reps to individual fitness levels. Beginners might aim for 1-30 reps a day, intermediate for 30-60, and advanced for 60-100. It is important to work to near failure and take rest days when needed.
