Emmerdale actor Lawrence Robb, who plays Mackenzie Boyd, has been announced as a contestant for Strictly Come Dancing 2026, confirming his continued role on the ITV soap.
From the Dales to the dancefloor
Robb, who joined Emmerdale in 2020 as Moira Dingle's younger brother, will swap his farming boots for dancing shoes when the BBC One show returns in September.
The announcement was made on Thursday, August 6, with a statement from the actor expressing his excitement.
New hosts and returning judges
This year's series will feature new hosts Emma Willis, professional dancer Johannes Radebe, and comedian Josh Widdicombe, replacing Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman who left after the 2025 series.
The judging panel remains unchanged, with Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke all returning.
Robb's reaction and Emmerdale future
In his statement, Robb said: "I don't know who’s more excited about this, me or my Mother. I can't quite believe that I am going to be getting my dancing shoes on this September on one of my favourite shows of all time! It's a dream come true, and I can't wait to bring my all to ballroom. Wish me luck, and any advice is very welcome - trust me I’ll need it!"
In a video shared on Strictly's Instagram, Robb confirmed he will continue his Emmerdale duties alongside his Strictly stint, saying: "Hello everybody, just a little video message to let you guys know that for the next couple of months, alongside strutting my stuff on the Emmerdale fields, I'm going to be strutting my stuff on the dance floor, wearing sequins and wearing tap shoes because, as luck would have it, I am doing Strictly Come Dancing!"
He added: "Help, please! Very much looking forward to it. It's very exciting, but I am terrified. So, be kind, and I will see you on the dance floor. Help!"
