Eamonn Holmes' GB News co-star Anne Diamond has shared an emotional health update on the presenter, months after he suffered a stroke in early April. Accepting an award at the TRIC awards on June 23, Diamond spoke about Holmes' absence and his recovery.
Anne Diamond's Update at TRIC Awards
Diamond, who co-hosts GB News Breakfast, took the stage as the programme won the news category. She said: "There are a couple of people who would love to be here but can’t for various reasons. Stephen Dixon who is my weekend co-presenter and Eamonn Holmes who you know is not very well at the moment. But he’s doing well. He’s recovering and we’re all hoping he’ll be back very soon."
Holmes' Health Scare and Recovery
The 66-year-old presenter fell ill in early April, with GB News confirming his stroke days later. His son, Declan Holmes, said the news "came as a real shock" and thanked supporters: "It means a lot to us as a family."
After the announcement, Eamonn shared a photo on social media of his granddaughters holding a sign reading "Get well soon," noting their spelling error. He wrote: "As my beautiful Granddaughters put it so well - I will do my best to get well SOON. Thank you for all of your many many good wishes, they give me strength."
First Public Photo and Determination to Return
Weeks before the TRIC awards, Holmes was seen smiling in hospital with his partner Katie Alexander in his first public photo since the stroke. He told The Sun: "I can’t wait to be out of this gown and back in a suit and tie. Watch this space. I’ll be back after this break."
GB News chief executive Angelos Frangopoulos earlier said: "Eamonn is a loved member of the GB News family, and we’re with him every step of the way as he recovers."
