Eamonn Holmes Hospitalised After Stroke, GB News Confirms

Eamonn Holmes, the 66-year-old GB News presenter, has been hospitalised after suffering a stroke, the broadcaster has confirmed. Holmes was taken to hospital on Tuesday after falling ill and is currently being treated on a ward.

GB News released a statement saying: 'Eamonn was taken ill last week and it was later confirmed he had suffered a stroke. He is currently responding well to treatment. Eamonn has asked for privacy as he focuses on getting better.' The network added that his colleagues wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming him back when he is ready.

Holmes had been due to return to his co-hosting role on Monday after a period of absence, but will now be off until further notice. Alex Armstrong will step in to present in his place. GB News CEO Angelos Frangopoulos said: 'Eamonn is a loved member of the GB News family, and we're with him every step of the way as he recovers.'

Last month, Holmes sparked concern during a live broadcast when he appeared to slur his words and fall asleep on air. He later dismissed the incident, attributing it to looking at his microphone pack. Holmes has faced a series of health issues in recent years, including a double hip replacement in 2016, three slipped discs and a dislocated pelvis in 2021, and major spinal surgery in 2022.
