Drake has postponed the same concert in Amsterdam for the third time in three months, leaving many UK fans who travelled to the Netherlands furious. The doors had already opened at the Ziggo Dome, and the venue was full when the cancellation was announced.
According to the promoter, the Canadian rapper was advised by a doctor not to perform due to illness. The promoter told the crowd: 'I'm really sorry to tell you that tonight's gig cannot take place. Drake got sick. His doctor told him not to perform.' The show has been rescheduled for Wednesday night.
This is the third postponement for the Amsterdam show. Performances originally scheduled for 20 and 21 January were moved to 26 and 27 January, then postponed again to 27 and 28 March. Another Amsterdam show on 28 January went ahead as planned.
Some UK fans who had travelled specifically for the concert expressed their anger. Music producer Conor Gouldsboro, who was among them, voiced his frustration. Others criticised the rapper for not addressing the situation directly, as Drake has not commented on social media about the postponement.
Earlier in January, Drake also postponed the opening UK dates of his Boy Meets World tour, including two shows in Glasgow and one in London, citing 'unforeseen production setbacks'. Last month, he promised refunds to fans at London's O2 Arena after guest Travis Scott fell into a hole onstage.
