Novak Djokovic's Heartfelt Message to Kate Middleton at Wimbledon Shows His True Character
Djokovic's Heartfelt Message to Kate Middleton at Wimbledon

Novak Djokovic previously delivered a heartfelt message about Kate Middleton after their paths crossed at Wimbledon, revealing his compassionate character beyond his fierce competitive spirit. The Princess of Wales presented the tennis icon with his runner-up trophy two years ago at the 2024 Wimbledon final, which marked only her second public appearance since sharing her cancer diagnosis in March 2024. She later announced she had entered remission in January 2025.

Djokovic's Supportive Words to the Princess of Wales

Despite the disappointment of losing to Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets for the second consecutive year, Djokovic showed grace and empathy in his post-match comments. When asked what he had said to Princess Kate, Djokovic responded: “Yes, it was of course a privilege to be in her presence again. I've said to her that it is very nice to see her in good health. She seems to be in good health.”

He continued: “That's obviously very positive news for everyone in this country but also for Wimbledon, for Championships to have Her Royal Highness here, of course with her family members. It's amazing. It's incredible support they've been giving over the years to this tournament.”

Djokovic also acknowledged the Royal Family's understanding of tennis, noting that Princess Kate and her sister have played tennis for a long time. “So they truly respect, admire the game. They also understand tennis, which is great. It's wonderful to have that kind of support from the Royal Family,” he added.

Djokovic's Quest for an Eighth Wimbledon Title

Djokovic continues to search for his elusive eighth Wimbledon title, which would see him match Roger Federer’s tally and claim an outright record 25th Grand Slam victory. The 39-year-old progressed to the second round at SW19 with a hard-fought win over Wu Yibing. During that match, Djokovic fired back at the Wimbledon crowd after fans began supporting his opponent.

He has been rewarded with a second-round match against familiar rival Stefanos Tsitsipas. The pair have met in two major finals, including the 2021 Australian Open. Tsitsipas’ father Apostolos was accused of showing disrespect in his reaction to Djokovic’s victory. Stefanos recently decided to drop his dad as his coach ahead of Wimbledon. The 27-year-old has only won two of his past 14 meetings with Djokovic.

Djokovic's Character Shines Through

Djokovic's comments about Princess Kate highlight the kind of person he is—someone who can put aside personal disappointment to show genuine care and respect for others. His words offered a glimpse of his compassionate side, especially given the context of Kate's cancer battle. The seven-time Wimbledon champion's ability to express warmth and admiration for the Royal Family's support underscores his character both on and off the court.
