Dilly Carter Reveals Emotional First Meeting with Stacey Solomon
Dilly Carter on Meeting Stacey Solomon: 'Felt Like 20 Years'

Dilly Carter, star of BBC's Sort Your Life Out, has opened up about the pivotal moment she first met co-star Stacey Solomon, admitting she was overwhelmed by the instant connection they shared. Speaking on the podcast 'Sort Your Life Out Unpacked', which she hosts, Carter recalled feeling as if they had known each other for over 20 years within just five minutes of their first meeting.

Instant Connection in an Essex Pub

Carter described the initial encounter: 'I remember when we first met and they had this idea about this show, and they're like, "You're going to go and meet Stacey, a guy called Iwan [Carrington] and a guy called Rob [Bent] and we're going to meet in this pub in Essex."' She continued, 'When I first met you I thought, "Oh my God", when we left, it felt like we'd known each other for over 20 years within five minutes.'

Carter became visibly emotional as she praised Solomon's aura: 'I think that's the loveliest thing about you, when you're with you, it feels like you've known you forever and you have such a lovely aura about you, and you're just you, and I love it. I mean I think this show has been the best thing that's ever happened to me because I met you, and it's been lovely.'

Sort Your Life Out's Success

Sort Your Life Out, which launched in 2021 during the Covid pandemic, quickly gained a large fan base. According to the BBC, the show features 'Stacey Solomon and her crack team help families transform their homes. With a life-changing declutter, they upcycle and recycle their way to a new home.' Alongside Solomon and Carter, the team includes Robert Bent and Iwan Carrington. Filming has recently concluded on the seventh series, five years after the show first aired.

Carter's Decluttering Tips and Personal Life

Outside the show, Carter offers decluttering advice. She once helped an ex-boyfriend tidy his mother's home, which led to them getting back together; the pair are now married. On handling paperwork, she advises tackling it all at once: 'It feels like, OK, well, I've only got this one box of paperwork to deal with now - so I'm going to sit and just go through it. It makes it much easier.'
