Diddy Denied Bail for Second Time Amid Sex Trafficking Charges

Sean 'Diddy' Combs has been refused bail for a second time as he faces federal charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. The 54-year-old rapper was arrested in New York on Monday night and pleaded not guilty on Tuesday.

His legal team proposed a $50 million bond package with conditions including electronic monitoring, weekly drug tests, surrender of his passport, and no contact with women. However, Judge Andrew Carter denied bail, citing concerns about witness tampering and obstruction of justice.

During the hearing, Judge Robyn F Tarnofsky noted 'very significant concerns' about Combs' substance abuse and anger issues. She stated that alternatives to detention were insufficient because many allegations occurred behind closed doors. Combs' lawyer confirmed plans to appeal the decision.

The unsealed indictment alleges Combs coerced victims into sexual performances known as 'freak offs', which sometimes lasted multiple days and involved commercial sex workers. He is accused of distributing controlled substances to keep victims compliant and recording the acts without consent. Authorities seized over 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant from his residences during searches in March 2024.

If convicted, Combs faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years and a maximum of life in prison. US Attorney Damian Williams stated, 'No one should doubt our commitment to prosecute anyone who engages in sex trafficking, no matter how powerful, wealthy or famous.'
