Diana's 5-word warning about Trump after flower gifts

Princess Diana reportedly issued a short but stern warning about Donald Trump after he made her feel uncomfortable, allegedly admitting: "He gives me the creeps". The comment came after the now-President sent her hundreds of pounds worth of flowers at her home at Kensington Palace in the 1990s.

Flowers and a charity donation

Trump allegedly made a hefty donation to one of her preferred charities and sent flowers in response to a handwritten thank-you note. Following this, he reportedly sent the Princess a 'lavish bouquet of roses and orchids' for her 35th birthday, despite previously stating that women have a "check-out time" at 35.

Stalking concerns

BBC correspondent Selina Scott said: "Trump clearly saw Diana as the ultimate trophy wife. As the roses and orchids piled up at her apartment, she became increasingly concerned about what she should do. It had begun to feel as if Trump was stalking her."

Following the Princess's tragic death in a car crash in Paris in 1997, Ms Scott claims Trump's "biggest regret" was that he hadn't dated Princess Diana. Ms Scott said: "He said that he always thought he had a chance of romance and would have had a 'shot' with her."

Trump's admiration and regret

Mr Trump has been very outspoken about his admiration for Diana and once described the "only regret in the women department" as never having the opportunity to "court Lady Diana Spencer". He penned in his book The Art Of The Comeback, published in November 1997, three months following Diana's death: "I couldn't help but notice how she moved people. She lit up the room. Her charm. Her presence. She was a genuine princess- a dream lady."

The president's comments contrast an interview he gave to DJ Howard Stern on an American radio program in October 1997, where he boasted he "could and would" have slept with Diana.

Public reactions

As we near the 2026 US Elections, old clips of Trump have been widely shared across the internet. Commenting on his behaviour toward Princess Diana, one YouTube user said: "Can this dude get any creepier? He doesn’t deserve Diana. She even said he creeps her out. She deserved way better. May she rest in peace."

Another added: "I believe this 100%. She would have been the ultimate trophy wife. Diana was creeped out and who wouldn’t be! Yuck. RIP lovely Lady. We love you!" A third user said: "He actually thought he had a chance with the most genuine, beautiful woman since Audrey Hepburn? Delusional." One more user added: "I'm no Lady Diana but Trump gives me the creeps too!"
