Denise van Outen, 52, shared photos of herself in shorts and fishnets ahead of a DJ performance with former co-star Johnny Vaughan, saying she feels "sexier" in her 50s.
Reunion with Johnny Vaughan
The pair hosted Channel 4's Big Breakfast in the late 1990s, becoming a popular double act known for their banter and chaotic energy. They were at odds for years over a pay dispute dating to 1999, but settled their differences during the coronavirus pandemic.
On Saturday, October 24, they performed as DJs together at House V Indie in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. Van Outen posed in a beige faux-fur jacket and black leather boots on her Instagram story.
Fans react to photos
The post attracted over 1,300 likes, with followers praising her appearance. One admirer wrote: "Wow that photo is so good." Another posted fire emojis with "Stop it Denise." A third said "Gorgeous," and a fourth commented "Very nice."
Days earlier, she showcased a BDSM-inspired dress in snaps from her hotel room.
Confidence in her 50s
Van Outen told The Sun: "When I was younger, I'd have thought by the time I'm in my fifties I wouldn't wear a bikini any more, and would opt for a one-piece. But actually, I love seeing women in mid-life rocking bikinis - because why shouldn't we? I'm 52 and when I put my bikini on I feel really good."
She added: "I'm surprised because I always thought that as I got older, I'd want to cover up more, but actually I've grown in confidence... We care less what people think, and just want to look and feel good."
On the Wright at Home podcast, she said: "You're never going to be everybody's cup of tea. A cab driver picked me up the other day and said, you're a right miserable cow. What did you want me to do, a full song and dance?"
Dunkerton's Organic Cider, which hosted the event, announced the performance, saying: "Denise on Team House. Johnny on Team Indie. One dancefloor, two DJs going head-to-head with club classics versus the guitar anthems you'll be screaming every word to. Choose your side." The pair also appeared the next morning for 'Sunday Service', with Dunkerton's stating: "The duo who turned breakfast telly into a party are back together, live. Expect behind-the-scenes stories, plenty of laughs, a 90s Pop Quiz with exclusive prizes, and a DJ set from Denise to finish."
