Delta Goodrem has been seen celebrating her first outing since becoming injured and being forced to miss the latest live show of Strictly Come Dancing's 2026 series.
The BBC One dance contest returned to screens on Saturday (October 17), with the new annual Icons Week special, where celebrities and their partners were tasked with channelling a famous singer, including Adele, RAYE, Elton John and Frank Sinatra.
Injury forces Delta to miss Icons Week
Delta was unable to pay tribute to her own icon, the late Olivia Newton-John, after it was confirmed at the start of last week that she was injured, meaning she and her professional partner, Kai Widdrington, were not able to perform.
A Strictly spokesperson previously explained the situation in a statement which said: "Due to injury, Delta Goodrem has been advised by doctors to rest and, as a result, will not dance on this weekend’s Strictly Come Dancing. In line with the rules of the show, Delta and Kai will receive a bye through to next week, when it is hoped they will be able to dance again. We wish Delta the very best as she continues her recovery."
Support from hosts and first outing
As the latest live show got underway, presenters Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe offered their well-wishes. "Delta, my darling, we know you will be watching at home tonight. I just want to say we are all sending you so much love," dancer Johannes said.
Delta was emotional as she watched from home. Filming herself as the hosts gave her a shoutout, she could be seen fighting tears, before saying "love you too," and blowing kisses towards the camera. "Thanks team, it's been a rough week [heart emoji]. Love you guys! @josh_widdicombe @johannesradebe @emmawillisofficial."
On Sunday (October 18), Delta was seen out for the first time since her injury was revealed. Sharing a post to her Instagram Story, the former Neighbours star said: "A happy Sunday first outing to the world with these legends [heart emoji]. Special project incoming... @montyfranklin @johncleeseofficial."
Preparing for Delta's return
It comes after Kai revealed he had been preparing for Delta's return. Speaking on Strictly spin-off It Takes Two on Friday (October 16), he said of their next performance: "We're going to slow things down a little next week and ease back into it. But as Delta reminded me today on FaceTime, 'it always has to be iconic'."
"So we have to make it iconic. So that's my job to choreograph it. I choreographed it today. It's gonna be slower than what we've done before."
