Lili Myers, the widow of Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers, has revealed plans for a new project to honor her late husband after the final Dave Day tribute ride raised £125,000 for cancer charities. The event, which saw 40,000 motorcyclists join the ride, ended last weekend with a final journey called "The Last Ride Home."
Emotional Interview on Lorraine
Appearing on ITV's Lorraine on Tuesday, Lili described the experience as "surreal." She said: "When we started organising this third one, we had no idea how many people would join, what would happen. We just said let's just go with it and have fun." She added: "And oh my gosh, 40 odd thousand motorbikes joined us!"
Lorraine Kelly asked about the funds raised, and Lili confirmed: "Rough idea about £125,000." When asked if the ride would truly end, Lili hinted at future plans: "I doubt that. There's going to be something in a different format that we are still discussing. But all these people, they were inspired by him. He had so much energy and zest for life, people related to him on so many levels."
Emotional Confession on BBC Breakfast
Earlier this week, Lili spoke on BBC Breakfast about the impact of Dave Day. She said: "Dave Day has been such a revelation for me. I don't remember much about the first year of bereavement. It's kind of a mist. I only remember snippets of that year. But Dave Day gave me something that was solid."
She continued: "There were people who were expressing their love for my husband, the biking community, amazing. Then the community of Barrow, and I didn't feel on my own." She added: "I will miss it, of course, because it's such a wonderful, wonderful expression of love. In my opinion, we've just united the southern part of the country with the northern part of the country through the snaking motorbikes on the motorways."
Legacy of Dave Myers
Dave Myers, one half of the Hairy Bikers duo, died in February 2024 at age 66 after a battle with cancer. The first Dave Day in 2025 saw thousands of bikers ride from London to his hometown of Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria. The event grew each year, culminating in the final ride that raised funds for cancer charities. Lili reflected: "It's amazing what this man is doing even after he's passed."
Lorraine airs weekdays at 9:30am on ITV1.
