EastEnders icon Danny Dyer has declared he would not hesitate to headbutt an overzealous fan, following a disturbing security breach at a recent film premiere involving pop superstar Ariana Grande.
The Shocking Incident in Singapore
The conversation was sparked by an event at the Wicked: For Good premiere in Singapore several weeks ago. Footage widely shared on social media showed a man, later identified as 26-year-old Johnson Wen, rushing onto the yellow carpet, jumping a barricade, and grabbing Ariana Grande.
The singer, 32, who plays Glinda in the film, was visibly shaken. Her co-star Cynthia Erivo, 38, immediately leapt into action, pushing the intruder away and shouting "Get off!" before putting a protective arm around Grande and later clutching her hand as they continued down the carpet.
Dyer's Blunt Response on His Podcast
Discussing the event with his daughter, former Love Island winner Dani Dyer, on their Live & Let Dyers podcast, Danny Dyer offered a characteristically direct solution. After hearing the details, he stated: "Well if he comes near me, I'll just stick the nut on him!"
Dani expressed her disbelief that such an intrusion could occur, praising Erivo's quick actions and describing Grande as a "dainty little thing." The discussion then turned to the nature of fame itself, with Danny noting how some fans develop an unhealthy "obsession" with celebrities.
Legal Consequences and a Pattern of Behaviour
The fan responsible for the attack, Australian national Johnson Wen, has faced legal repercussions. He pleaded guilty to one charge of public nuisance and was sentenced to nine days in jail. The court heard he had travelled to Singapore on a social visit pass specifically to attend the premiere on November 11.
Wen, who calls himself 'Pyjama Man' on Instagram and frequently posts about meeting celebrities, has a history of similar stunts. In June, he shocked singer Katy Perry by suddenly joining her on stage during a gig in Sydney.
The incident has reignited conversations about celebrity security and the extreme behaviour some public figures face, with Danny Dyer's visceral reaction highlighting the very real fear and frustration stars can experience.
