Danny Dyer is among the celebrities joining Stephen Graham for the Adolescence star's new book project, Letters to Our Sons. The book, designed to continue conversations about toxic masculinity, will be released on Thursday, September 24, 2026.
Stephen Graham's Rise to Fame
Stephen Graham, 52, from Liverpool, exploded in global popularity last year when Adolescence became one of the most-watched shows of the year. The Netflix miniseries sees him playing the father of a teenage boy accused of murdering a female classmate. The four-episode series received plaudits for inspiring vital conversations between parents and their children. Graham won Best Actor at the Golden Globes, BAFTAs, and Emmys for his performance.
Graham's Recent and Upcoming Roles
Since Adolescence, Graham has appeared in the horror film Good Boy, the Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me from Nowhere, and played Hayden Stagg for the final time in Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. Upcoming roles include the thriller Bunker from The Father director Florian Zeller and acting alongside Tom Hanks in the sequel to Apple TV+'s Greyhound.
The Book: Letters to Our Sons
Announced last year, Letters to Our Sons is a book project co-created by Graham and psychology lecturer Orly Klein. They called on fathers worldwide to send letters to their sons about what it means to be a man. The blurb reads: "What advice do you wish you'd shared before your son's first day at school? When he missed or scored that goal? Or the day he left home? ... Full of hope, fear, shame and pride, Letters to Our Sons is a raw and extraordinary outpouring of the sometimes messy, often joyful, and always complex realities of modern fatherhood."
Celebrity Contributors
Among the A-list contributors are former EastEnders actor Danny Dyer, No Country For Old Men's Javier Bardem, Line of Duty's Daniel Mays, Showtrial's Michael Socha, and Ashley Walters, who played a police officer in Adolescence. The Adolescence connection continues with writer Jack Thorne contributing. Other stars include Oscar nominee Riz Ahmed, Olympian Tom Daley, football stars Chris Kamara and Jamie Redknapp, comedian Romesh Ranganathan, ITV presenter Jeff Brazier, musician Goldie, Educating Yorkshire's Matthew Burton, and Louis Theroux.
Live Events and Publisher's Response
Graham and Klein will host live events at Liverpool's Playhouse and London's Central Hall during the book's release week. Katy Follain, head of Bloomsbury General, said: "We have been overwhelmed by the response to Stephen and Orly's call-out, which prompted dads from all backgrounds and with a huge range of experiences to write in. And to have fathers in the public eye now contributing too adds to the incredibly powerful messaging of this unique book: we are all in this together, whatever our status and profession. It shows how parenting is the great leveller and how we can learn from one another, and we are truly touched to have so many voices come together for this era-defining collection."
The events in Liverpool and London are expected to be inspiring, moving, and entertaining, as fathers come together to celebrate and share their personal stories.
