Dan Walker, the presenter known for BBC Breakfast and Channel 5 News, has been married to his wife Sarah since 2001. The couple met as students at the University of Sheffield and share three children: Susanna, Jessica, and Joe. They moved from London to Sheffield in 2017.
Sarah's Rare Public Appearances
Sarah largely stays out of the public eye. Walker explained in an Instagram Q&A: "She doesn’t want to be on social media. Simple as that. She’s much wiser than me." She made a rare appearance during Dan's stint on Strictly Come Dancing in 2021, where he was partnered with Nadiya Bychkova. The pair finished in fifth place after surviving until week 11.
During one week, Dan dedicated a Viennese waltz to Sarah and their children. He said: "I’m just going to gush over her for a moment. Because she’s one of those people, the more you know her the more you love her. And I’ve known her and loved her for over half my life. There she is, she’s absolutely amazing, she’s such a special person and I love her to bits."
The 'Low Point' in Their Marriage
Despite their strong relationship, Dan recalled a "low point" involving a Valentine's Day gift. He told iNews: "My best gifts over the years have included posh chocolates, meals out and a surprise trip to see Les Miserables at the theatre. If watching Michael Ball belting out Empty Chairs and Empty Tables was the height of my Valentinian prowess, then the low point came about a decade ago when I inexplicably decided to wrap a saucepan up with an accompanying card."
The next morning, Sarah said: "'I know we don’t take it really seriously,' said Mrs Walker the next morning, 'But can we never go down the kitchen route again please?' I offered no excuses. It was a poor choice."
Dan currently hosts Yorkshire Great and Small with Helen Skelton on Channel 5, airing Saturdays at 4pm.
