Courteney Cox and Johnny McDaid Split After 13 Years

Courteney Cox and Snow Patrol star Johnny McDaid have reportedly ended their 13-year relationship. The couple, together since 2013 and briefly engaged, are understood to have parted ways amicably towards the end of 2025. A friend told the Mail on Sunday: 'Johnny speaks incredibly highly of Courteney. They had a very deep relationship and they remain extremely amicable. They are great friends and care about each other very much. This was not an ugly split. They had simply reached a point where they were living different lives.'

How They Met

The couple met through mutual friend Ed Sheeran, with whom McDaid co-wrote hits including Shape of You, Photograph, and Galway Girl. They got engaged shortly after getting together but broke up in 2015. They reconciled in 2016 and remained partners until the recent split. Although they have spoken about each other in interviews and been seen together in public, it has been several months since they were last spotted together.

Past Relationship Struggles

Cox, 62, has been open about their earlier troubles. On the Minnie Questions podcast, she revealed they attended therapy together, and McDaid broke up with her in the first minute of a session. 'I didn't know it was coming…. We were engaged and I was so shocked. I was in so much pain,' she said. However, she later expressed gratitude for the breakup, saying it taught her about her own patterns and childhood needs. Prior to McDaid, Cox was married to David Arquette from 1999 to 2013; they share a daughter, Coco.
