Coronation Street fans believe they have worked out Bethany Platt's baby plan after actress Lucy Fallon gave a hilarious response to the on-screen pregnancy twist.
This week in the ITV soap, filmed in Salford, Bethany took a positive pregnancy test, leaving viewers confused about who the father might be. In addition to sleeping with her mother's ex, Kit Green, a few weeks ago, she has also recently been reuniting with her former fling, Ryan Connor.
Sarah Platt's murder case
As viewers know, Bethany's mum, Sarah Platt, is currently behind bars after being arrested for the murder of Theo Silverton in scenes aired earlier this year. The case will go to trial in scenes airing this week.
After confessing to the murder in self-defence, Sarah dumped Kit, who was trying to keep his partner from behind bars after she told him what she had done while he was trying to propose. She aimed to spare him from the ordeal, as he faced losing his career for her, while she faces the rest of her life behind bars.
Kit's secret diagnosis
In the aftermath of the split, Kit was seen drinking more and pushing away those who care about him. What they did not know at the time was that, as well as losing Sarah, he had also been shaken by an unexpected breast cancer diagnosis in another hard-hitting health storyline for the long-running show.
It was during the time he was keeping his diagnosis a secret that Kit ended up sleeping with Bethany. Weeks on, while Kit's cancer diagnosis is out in the open among his family, Bethany and his colleague, DS Lisa Swain-Connor, it now appears that Bethany is going to be the one holding a secret, as in Tuesday's (October 13) episode of Corrie, it was confirmed that she is pregnant.
Fans share theories
Lucy has already been seen confirming who her baby's dad is after fans predicted a possible paternity twist, and she also shared her own shock at discovering the direction the storyline was heading in.
As the storyline continues to unfold, Lucy took to Instagram with a string of photos of Bethany discovering her pregnancy, as well as a behind-the-scenes snap in which she could be seen posing with a pregnancy test. "oh dear gworl @coronationstreet x," she captioned the post, and the comments soon came flooding in with many fans sharing their theories.
