Coronation Street Fans Spot Change to No. 7 After 44 Years

Coronation Street viewers have been stunned after noticing something different on the legendary street. The much-loved ITV soap, created by Tony Warren, has been a fixture on television for more than six decades, first appearing in 1960. Since then, it has kept audiences hooked, delivering powerful storylines and memorable characters.

Fans Spot Change to No. 7

Earlier this week, fans observed a subtle alteration had been made to No. 7 Coronation Street, the middle property on the cobbles. No. 7 boasts an intriguing history, and was converted into a liveable dwelling in 1981 by Len Fairclough (Peter Adamson) who acquired the property, reports the Daily Star. Its present owner is Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) who purchased the house from Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon).

In Tuesday's episode (August 18), viewers clocked that the property's frontage had been refreshed in one of the scenes. On X, one person said: "Just noticed Dev and Bernie's new front door and windows have made their debut!" A second chimed in: "Spotted that earlier too! No storyline reasons... Dev just did it. Much like the scaffolding outside the corner shop!"

Fan Reactions to the New Look

A third shared: "Love the colour, really stands out. Dev and Bernie have been busy decorating off-screen when we haven't seen them. Very Bernie style." Sharing similar sentiments, another person wrote: "The outside of No. 7 is now dark pink? ? ? Would Len Fairclough have approved?"

Coronation Street tour guide @ShaunInBrum also shared: "A new look at No. 7 Coronation Street debuted today. Fun fact, this was updated in June (with advance filming) on the same week that Len Fairclough was seen completing the outside of the then new house with a lick of paint in June 82. That front door lasted 44 years!"

Background on the Set

Coronation Street — renowned for its characteristic early 20th-century red-brick terraced properties — was initially filmed in Manchester city centre, before production moved and the original set was torn down. The programme transferred to Media City in 2013, located on the waterfront of the Manchester Ship Canal in Salford. Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
