Former England rugby captain Chris Robshaw has revealed an unexpected perk of his gruelling Strictly Come Dancing training schedule - his wife Camilla Kerslake can't keep her eyes off his newly sculpted physique.
From Rugby Pitch to Dance Floor
The 37-year-old sports star, who's trading rugby boots for dancing shoes in the upcoming series, confessed that the intense dance rehearsals have transformed his body in ways that have certainly caught his opera singer wife's attention.
"She definitely fancies me more now I'm in the best shape of my life," Robshaw revealed with a laugh during an exclusive interview. "All those hours in the dance studio are paying off in more ways than one!"
The Strictly Effect
Robshaw, known for his formidable presence on the rugby field, admitted that dance training presents entirely different physical challenges compared to his sporting background:
- Daily rehearsals lasting up to eight hours
- Focus on flexibility and core strength rather than brute force
- Complete transformation of movement patterns
- Unexpected cardiovascular demands
"People don't realise how physically demanding dance really is," Robshaw explained. "It's working muscles I didn't even know I had. The conditioning is incredible."
Marital Benefits
Camilla Kerslake, 35, who married Robshaw in a beautiful ceremony in 2018, has been his biggest cheerleader throughout the process. The classical singer has been spotted attending rehearsals and offering moral support as her husband prepares for the ballroom.
"She's been amazing through all this," Robshaw gushed. "Though I think she's enjoying the results almost as much as I'm enjoying the journey. Let's just say the training has some... domestic advantages."
Life After Rugby
Since retiring from professional rugby in 2022, Robshaw has been exploring new challenges, and Strictly Come Dancing represents his biggest departure from sports yet. The former Harlequins flanker admits the transition hasn't been easy.
"In rugby, you're taught to be powerful and direct. In dance, it's about grace and precision. I'm having to completely rewire my athletic instincts," he shared.
Despite the challenges, Robshaw is embracing his new role as a entertainer and is determined to make his mark on the dance floor when the show returns to BBC One this autumn.
One thing's for certain - whether he lifts the Glitterball Trophy or not, he's already won the admiration of the person who matters most.
