Chris Noth Declares Himself 'Lucky' After Mr. Big's Death in Sex and the City Reboot
Chris Noth has made fresh comments about his departure from the Sex and the City franchise, stating he feels 'very lucky' that his iconic character, Mr. Big, was killed off at the start of the reboot series, And Just Like That. The actor, now 71, was written out of the show in 2021 following sexual assault allegations, which he has consistently denied as 'complete fabrication'.
Noth Criticises Co-Stars Over Support for Accusers
Speaking to the Daily Mail at the Blue Jacket Fashion Show in New York City this week, Noth laughed as he insisted he felt 'very good' about not having a larger role in the now-cancelled HBO Max series. This marks another public jab at his former co-stars, including Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis, who issued a joint statement supporting his accusers after the allegations emerged.
'We're not friends, I think that's pretty obvious,' Noth said last month on the Really Famous with Kara Mayer Robinson podcast. He described their statement as 'nothing more than brand management', adding it was 'sad, disappointing, and surprising' that they did not contact him to hear his side after years of working together.
Fallout with Sarah Jessica Parker and Relationships with Other Cast Members
When asked specifically about his relationship with Sarah Jessica Parker, who played his on-screen wife Carrie Bradshaw, Noth gave a blunt response to the Daily Mail: 'It's over.' However, he revealed he remains friendly with other Sex and the City alumni, such as John Corbett and Kim Cattrall.
'John Corbett and I are very close friends. He's doing wonderful,' Noth claimed, noting that Cattrall is 'living in London, I think' and that he recently wished her a happy birthday. Corbett reprised his role as Aidan Shaw in And Just Like That, while Cattrall largely sat out the reboot due to past pay disputes and has publicly stated the cast were 'never friends', only colleagues.
Background on the Series and Its Cancellation
Sex and the City originally aired from 1998 to 2004, following four friends in New York City. The revival, And Just Like That, premiered in 2021 and ran for three seasons before being unexpectedly cancelled in August after receiving mixed reviews from critics. Noth's removal from the series stemmed from the sexual assault accusations, which led to his character being killed off in the debut episode, a plot point he now ironically celebrates as fortunate.
Noth's latest remarks underscore the ongoing tensions within the Sex and the City cast, highlighting divisions that have persisted since the reboot's inception and his controversial exit from the franchise.
