Channel 4 Reveals Light in the Hall Replacement Doc

The psychological crime thriller The Light in the Hall: Still Waters airs its final episode tonight, Wednesday, July 1, on Channel 4. The network has already announced its replacement: a one-off documentary titled How to Get Filthy Rich with Gary Stevenson, set to air on Wednesday, July 8, at 9pm.

What to Expect from the Replacement

The 90-minute documentary follows former Citibank trader-turned-economic campaigner Gary Stevenson as he travels across the UK to examine structural wealth inequality and advocate for a wealth tax. Stevenson, who now has a strong social media presence, argues that taxing the super-rich could address the growing wealth gap tearing UK society apart.

According to Channel 4's synopsis: "The former finance trader Gary Stevenson explores the wealth gap which he believes is tearing UK society apart. He travels the country to meet those who are struggling, as well as multi-millionaires - and even some billionaires."

The documentary will feature Stevenson debating opponents of his proposal and meeting supporters who back his call for a wealth tax. It is a one-off special, with no follow-up programme announced yet.

The Light in the Hall Finale

Before the documentary airs, viewers will get closure on the mystery surrounding Llyr Owen (Ieuan Evans) and whether his cousin Rhys Owen (Mark Lewis Jones) was involved in his death. The finale promises to answer lingering questions from the series, which has occupied Channel 4's primetime 9pm slot on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for several weeks.

The Light in the Hall: Still Waters is available to watch on Channel 4.
