Channel 4 has confirmed that Celebrity Gogglebox will not air next week, with the 2021 crime thriller The Forgiven taking its place in the Sunday night repeat slot. The film, starring Ralph Fiennes and Jessica Chastain, has been described by viewers as “absolutely brilliant” and “Oscar worthy.”
Celebrity Gogglebox Season 8 Finale Airs
The seventh and final episode of season eight aired on Friday, July 17, and will be repeated on Sunday, July 19, at 10pm. The episode features famous faces including Rylan Clark, Vernon Kay, Rob Beckett, and Mo Gilligan, along with Scissor Sisters icon Jake Shears and Queens of the Stone Age star Josh Homme. They watch shows like The Piano, Emmerdale, and Police Interceptors.
The Forgiven Takes Over Sunday Slot
From next week, The Forgiven will replace the Sunday repeat of Celebrity Gogglebox. The film, based on Lawrence Osborne's 2012 novel, follows a married couple, Jo (Jessica Chastain) and David Henninger (Ralph Fiennes), who accidentally kill a local teenager while driving to a party in Morocco. The synopsis reveals that “when the deceased's father turns up at the soirée asking for help, Jo and David are plunged into a bizarre and dark night of the soul.”
The cast also includes Matt Smith (House of the Dragon), Christopher Abbott (Wolf Man, Girls), and Caleb Landry Jones (Get Out).
