Chad Lowe's eldest daughter, Mabel, has paid tribute to her younger sister Fiona following her death at the age of 13. The Lowe family confirmed on Tuesday that Fiona had died, saying they were 'deeply heartbroken'. The County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner later confirmed her manner of death to be suicide.
Mabel's heartfelt tribute
Alongside Fiona, Chad and his wife, Kim Painter, have daughters Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10. Speaking out this evening after a devastating week, Mabel took to Instagram to share a series of personal snaps of Fiona, highlighting their close relationship. The pictures included one of the sisters playing in the sand on holiday and another of Fiona posing in her ballet attire.
Mabel's caption read: 'I love you so much fiona ❤️ i wish your short time here was easier and i hope your mind is at ease now. I will honor you forever and keep your memory alive. I love you, i hope you knew just how much.'
Support from celebrities
Her comments section was soon filled with messages of support and condolence, including from actress Billie Lourd, who left three red hearts. Buffy the Vampire Slayer actor David Boreanaz also wrote, 'Lovely❤️ two peas in a pod forever 🙏🏻🦅', having also shared his own tribute earlier in the week.
Alongside a photo with the Lowe family, he penned: 'My Deepest condolences to my friends Chad and Kim with the loss of their beautiful soul, Fiona. Family's statement and further tributes
When announcing that Fiona had died, Pretty Little Liars star Chad and his family described her as a 'loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance'. 'She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents,' they added. 'In fact, she was the light of our lives. Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time.'
Chad's father, Charles 'Chuck' Lowe, posted a photo the following day, showing Fiona smiling at the camera while swimming. 'Rest in peace, sweet Fiona,' he wrote in the caption. Kendra Andrews, Fiona's dance teacher, wrote alongside some rehearsal footage: 'We will never be the same without you here.'
Fiona's death and family's loss
Fiona was pronounced dead in hospital at 1.14am on September 29, with her body now released to her family. She would have turned 14 in November, with Chad, 58, posting for her milestone last year: 'Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!! Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!' Chad also previously shared affectionately that being his daughters' dad is the 'greatest joy and privilege'.
After they lost their home in the Pacific Palisades wildfires last February, he stated that 'helping them navigate these tough times is [his] sole purpose'. In January, he reflected on the 'catastrophe', sharing images of the ruins left behind of what was once their loving home. 'Losing everything I ever owned and the home we raised our family in is still deeply painful to this day,' he penned, adding that he was 'incredibly proud' of his wife and daughters for making 'the absolute best of this extraordinarily difficult circumstance'.
'I am in awe of their resilience.'
