Chad Lowe and his wife, Kim Painter, have held a private celebration in honour of their late daughter Fiona, who died by suicide last month aged 13. The actor, 58, and his casting director wife, 52, gathered with some of their closest relatives over the weekend, according to People Magazine.
Family Tribute to Fiona
Fiona died by suicide on September 29. At the time, the family released a joint statement confirming the news, describing their loss as "devastating" and asking for "prayers and privacy at this time."
In the tribute, her family said: "We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona. She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance."
They added: "She was adored by her sisters, and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives."
Family's Recent Struggles
The statement ended by urging anyone struggling with their mental health to reach out for help, including details for the US 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
Fiona's death came just over a year after the family's home was destroyed in the Pacific Palisades fire, a 1,200-acre brush fire that tore through the celebrity enclave in January last year.
Marking a year after the devastation, Chad shared a post on social media saying the family's lives "got turned upside down by a completely preventable catastrophe." He wrote: "It's hard not to let the anger, despair, and frustration overwhelm."
Family's Resilience
Chad added: "Losing everything I ever owned and the home we raised our family in is still deeply painful to this day. However, this terrible experience has been a powerful reminder of this simple truth - we can't always control what happens to us in this life but we can control how we respond."
He expressed pride in how his wife and daughters "strived to make the absolute best of this extraordinarily difficult circumstance," saying, "I am in awe of their resilience."
Earlier in the year, Chad had shared a video on Instagram saying he was "blessed" to be a girl dad, gushing: "This is what it's all about." Kim and Chad have been married since 2010.
Chad, brother of actor Rob Lowe, is known for roles in Pretty Little Liars and Supergirl and won an Emmy for his part in Life Goes On. Rob is said to have dropped everything when he heard about Fiona's death, with a source telling Naughty But Nice: "Chad is his little brother, and the second he heard, Hollywood stopped mattering. There was nowhere else Rob was going to be except by Chad's side."
