The sixth episode of Celebrity Traitors ended with a cliff-hanger, as the Traitors attempted a murder in plain sight. The episode saw the banishment of a much-loved Faithful, leaving viewers uncertain who was murdered.
Joe Lycett Banished After Slip-Up
Following King Kenny's recruitment the previous night, the Faithfuls were shocked to see everyone return to breakfast. Suspicion immediately fell on Joe Lycett, who had expressed his desperation to be recruited after Traitor Hannah Fry had been banished at Thursday's round table.
Joanne McNally was also "getting some heat" after her slip-up the previous day, as was James Blunt for his failed previous theories.
Mission and Round Table Chaos
The mission saw the group split into two and answer questions about their fellow contestants. The Red Team, including Traitors Maya Jama and James Acaster, won more money for the prize pot, earning Maya a Shield to protect her from the evening's murder.
No one seemed certain about who the remaining Traitors were, leading to carnage at the Round Table. Kenny and James Acaster both targeted Joe, while Leigh-Anne Pinnock raised suspicions about Ross Kemp. Next, the knives were out for Joanne, due to her faux-pas at the previous Round Table and her erratic votes throughout the series.
At the death, with James Blunt questioning Joe, the comedian made a slip-up by implying the Traitors would recruit again should he be banished, resulting in him getting almost a clean-sweep of votes.
Emotional Farewell and Murder Attempt
Standing in front of the round table, Joe said: "I always wanted to start as a Faithful and end as a Traitor. I started as a Faithful, I did not get my wish." There were heads in hands around the Round Table, and a sombre scene at the bar afterwards. Miranda Hart was in tears, telling James Acaster she was upset at losing the "laughter and joy" Joe had brought to the castle.
The drama was far from over, with the Traitors told they must murder in plain sight. They were instructed to "bore" their victim to death, using a bottle filled with deadly powder located in the library. They had to spray the powder into a room, before luring their victim there and getting them to yawn.
Kenny secured the bottle and sprayed the perfume, but there was an agonising wait as the Traitors attempted to force one of the Faithful to yawn. Ross and Jerry Hall were lured into the room, and James and Maya pretended to yawn to try to entice one from a Faithful. The episode ended on a cliff-hanger, with both looking tired just before the clock struck twelve.
Viewers will have to wait until Thursday to find out who was murdered and whether the Traitors were caught in the act.
