Paul Flack, the brother of late television presenter Caroline Flack, has died at the age of 55. He was found unresponsive at his home in Norwich on Sunday, 21 June. His death comes six years after Caroline Flack took her own life at the age of 40.
Flackstock Festival Organisers Pay Tribute
The organisers of Flackstock, a festival launched in 2022 to honour Caroline Flack's legacy and raise awareness about mental health, issued a heartfelt statement on Instagram. They said: "We are beyond heartbroken by Paul Flack's passing. We loved Paul so deeply, and this news has shattered us all. Paul was funny, kind and loving. He gave the best hugs and had the most brilliant laugh. We will miss him so much."
The statement continued: "Flackstock exists as a festival to give people hope. To remember those who have been lost, and to hold a hand out to anyone who is struggling. This news is hard to hear and hard to share. Right now, our focus is supporting the Flack family however we can, so please bear with us while we grieve someone we loved so very, very much."
Celebrity Tributes
High-profile figures from the entertainment world who were close to Caroline Flack have also paid tribute. Singer Olly Murs shared a tearful and heartbroken emoji in the comments. Television presenter Laura Whitmore also posted a heartbroken emoji. Zara Holland added: "So sorry for your loss." Dawn O'Porter wrote: "These messages are so lovely. We love you all so much. Thank you."
Inquest and Police Statement
An inquest has been opened at Norfolk Coroner's Court, scheduled for 23 October. Police are treating the death as "unexplained." A statement from Norfolk Constabulary said: "Officers were called by ambulance after concerns for the safety of a man in his 50s. He was taken by ambulance to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital but was sadly pronounced dead at 10.44pm. The death is being treated as unexplained at this time but police do not currently believe there are any suspicious circumstances."
Background
Caroline Flack, best known for hosting Love Island, died by suicide in February 2020 at her London flat. In her memory, the Flackstock festival was established to promote mental health awareness and support. Paul Flack's death adds another layer of tragedy to the family's history.
