Emma Heming Willis has shared a touching update on her relationship with husband Bruce Willis, who is living with frontotemporal dementia. The couple celebrated 18 years since they first became boyfriend and girlfriend, with Emma posting a photo of Bruce kissing her on Instagram.
In the caption, she wrote: '18 years ago, he became my boyfriend. With one kiss on the top of my head, time stood still. I'm so lucky to know this kind of love.' The post was accompanied by a blue love heart emoji.
Emma also opened up about the emotional toll of the festive season in a personal essay published on her website. She recalled Bruce's love for Christmas, describing him as 'the pancake maker, the get-out-in-the-snow-with-the-kids guy, the steady presence moving through the house as the day unfolded.' She added: 'Dementia doesn't erase those memories, but it does create space between then and now. And that space can ache.'
The 70-year-old actor retired from acting in 2022 after being diagnosed with aphasia, which later progressed to frontotemporal dementia. In August 2025, Emma explained that while his language is declining, they have found ways to communicate. She noted that moments of his personality still shine through, particularly his 'hearty laugh' and 'twinkle in his eye.'
Despite the challenges, Emma expressed gratitude: 'I'm grateful that my husband is still very much here.' The couple married in 2009 and have two daughters, Mabel and Evelyn. Bruce also has three daughters from his marriage to Demi Moore.
