Boston locals have declared that Scotland's Tartan Army creates a better atmosphere than England's travelling support during the World Cup, with one resident stating 'nothing quite hits like the Scottish'. England supporters arrived in Boston ahead of their group stage clash with Ghana on June 23, which ended in a draw, but locals were more focused on comparing the two sets of fans.
Scotland's Tartan Army Leaves Lasting Impression
Scotland's supporters had already made a strong impression on the Massachusetts city during group-stage matches against Haiti and Morocco. The Tartan Army quickly became a hit with locals, who embraced the visiting fans and their celebrations throughout their stay. A viral video posted by TikTok user @narcolespsybetsy captured two Boston women heading into the city to see whether England fans could match the standards set by Scotland's travelling support.
Speaking outside a busy bar, one of the women said: 'Everyone in Boston has been wondering, is England gonna show up to Scotland's level? We're at the Dubliner right now. I feel like it is the first night that all of the England fans are truly here as they play tomorrow and they are pretty rowdy. They keep doing all these chants.'
Local Women Compare Fan Atmospheres
Asking her friend the question, she said: 'But do they show up to Scotland's level?' To which she strongly replied: 'I don't think so. I think when they say 'No Scotland, No Party,' it's very evident, it's very true.'
The pair went on to explain why they believed Scotland's supporters had stood out during the tournament. 'There's just some kind of special spark that the Scots have. Maybe it's the fact they haven't been to a World Cup in 28 years and they're just really excited. This is probably more normal for England,' they said. Although they both firmly decided that the Scotland fans are the better of the two, as they said: 'The English are still a good time, but nothing quite hits like the Scottish. I don't think anything ever will.'
England Fans Respond with Chants
Later in the clip, the women approached a group of England fans to get their thoughts on the Scots showing them up in Boston. Although the fans quickly responded with chants of 'Scotland get battered, everywhere they go.' Unfazed, the pair fired back with a chant of their own, proudly shouting 'No Scotland, No Party' in their thick American accents.
The video quickly attracted attention from Scotland fans, who took to the comment section to praise the women for backing the Tartan Army. One user wrote: 'Love the commitment and loyalty ladies,' alongside a Scotland flag emoji. Another Scot enthusiastically wrote: 'Yas!! Get them telt my Bonnie lass!! No Scotland, No Party.' A third Scottish user penned: 'Love the way our Bostonian cousins are representing for Scotland.'
Scots Clarify Party Nature Is Not Just World Cup Fever
Although some Scots were quick to let the girls know that Scotland fans party like this wherever they go and it isn't just the first World Cup in nearly three decades making the Tartan Army act this way. One user stated: 'I run a bar in Scotland and can confirm we party like that World Cup or not. Karaoke with the Scottish is top tier vibes.'
