Emily Blunt Rejects AI for Spielberg Film Amid Actor Concerns
Blunt Shuns AI for New Spielberg Film Over Actor Fears

Emily Blunt has chosen not to employ artificial intelligence for a key scene in her upcoming Steven Spielberg science fiction film, Disclosure Day, citing her concerns about the technology. The actress personally recorded a variety of organic sounds—including clicks, hums, and unusual breathing—for a four-minute continuous shot where her character disintegrates and speaks an alien language. These sounds were later refined by a sound designer.

Disclosure Day, also starring Colin Firth and directed by Spielberg, is scheduled for release on 12 June. Blunt portrays a Kansas City TV meteorologist who is overtaken by an extraterrestrial force. Her decision reflects broader apprehension among actors regarding the increasing use of AI in filmmaking. Matthew McConaughey has previously warned about AI's potential to replace performers.

AI in Cinema

This development comes as the first fully AI-generated feature-length film, Dreams of Violets, made for $2,000 over three months, is set to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on 10 June. Blunt's stance highlights the ongoing debate about the role of artificial intelligence in the entertainment industry.
