Coronation Street star Beverley Callard has dismissed rumours linking her recent weight loss to the diabetes drug Ozempic, insisting she has been 'working her backside off' all her life and is deeply committed to fitness. The 68-year-old actress, best known for playing Liz McDonald on the ITV soap, clarified that her impressive physique is not the result of 'any weight loss jabs', but simply the fruit of her hard work.
Callard, who has built a side career on fitness and released successful workout videos, was quick to add that she 'wouldn't criticise anyone' for using such methods and encouraged people 'to do what they need to do'. Ozempic (semaglutide) is a prescription injectable medication primarily approved for adults with type 2 diabetes, but it has recently become a diet trend.
After quitting the cobbles, Beverley recently made a return to our screens in Discovery+'s Celebrity Help! My House Is Haunted, where viewers were left on edge after she appeared to be 'possessed by a spirit' during a chilling reality series. The actress participated in a ritual to determine supernatural forces in her 19th-century home, which she shares with her husband Jon.
During the investigation, Beverley tried to make contact with spirits using a crystal pendulum, only to end up sweating and trembling. She declared, 'I'm absolutely boiling,' as experts gauged the air temperature. Her hand, arms, and body began to shake, and she exclaimed, 'Can I run out of here!?' The team had to 'clear the aura and energy' from around her.
Beverley invited the paranormal team into her converted barn in Norfolk after experiencing strange happenings, including alarms sounding in the dead of night and seeing specks of light.
