DJ Fat Tony has sparked fresh outrage from the Beckham family after backtracking on his earlier claims that Victoria Beckham danced 'inappropriately' with her son Brooklyn at his wedding. The DJ, who was a guest at the 2022 nuptials, initially backed Brooklyn's allegations but has now changed his tune, leaving David and Victoria Beckham furious, sources say.
Fat Tony's Original Claims
In January, Brooklyn Beckham, 27, issued a scathing statement accusing his parents of prioritising 'Brand Beckham' and claiming Victoria tried to create a rift between him and his wife, Nicola Peltz. One of the most explosive allegations was that Victoria danced 'inappropriately' on him at his first wedding. Shortly after, DJ Fat Tony appeared on ITV's This Morning to corroborate the story.
Tony recalled that singer Marc Anthony orchestrated the awkward moment by calling Brooklyn and 'the most beautiful woman in the room' to the dance floor. However, Anthony then shouted out Victoria instead of the bride, Nicola. Tony claimed Marc told Brooklyn to put his hands on his mother's hips, describing the incident as 'inappropriate' due to the timing, as Brooklyn and Nicola expected to enjoy their first dance as a married couple.
Backtrack and Beckhams' Fury
In a recent interview, Tony reversed his stance, saying: 'It's always sad when there's a rift in any family. It just so happened that I got dragged into one. I went on [This Morning] to change a narrative of the word 'inappropriate' and where it was going for Victoria, where it was going for Brooklyn. It was not a nice situation.' He added that the Beckhams 'are incredible and David and Victoria brought up those kids impeccably.'
However, a source told the Daily Mail: 'Fat Tony was seen as one of the main witnesses against Victoria at the wedding and very pro-Brooklyn and Nicola. Now look at how he's changed his tune. The Beckhams are furious at all of this. Why on earth go on and slag them off? They were always close to Tony. He was their go-to DJ, but when they went with Hale Zero [another DJ], that changed.' The source added: 'There is so much hurt and sorrow wrapped up in the fallout with Brooklyn. For someone to stir it up the way [Tony] did was awful. And now he's come out and praised them profusely. It’s baffling.'
PR Expert Weighs In
PR expert Mayah Riaz suggested the U-turn could benefit the Beckhams more than Brooklyn. She said: 'When Fat Tony first spoke out, it appeared to validate Brooklyn's account of events and he was seen as an independent witness to a story that had largely been based on personal claims. We know that public opinion is often shaped less by the original allegation and more by what happens afterwards. When someone who is perceived to be a neutral party starts rowing back and clarifying their position, or even expressing sympathy for the other side, it makes us reassess the entire narrative.'
Riaz also noted that the Beckhams' silence on the feud is their 'biggest strength,' while Brooklyn and Nicola have aired grievances publicly. If this continues, she warned, the story could become 'less about their concerns and more about why the feud is still being played out in public.'
