Tom Bedford, a 31-year-old window cleaner from Mitcham in south London, has gone viral after posting a mock Ring doorbell-style advert for his business, only to be flooded with comments comparing him to David Beckham and other celebrities.
Advert Disguised as Angry Post
Tom shared the advert in a local group covering Mitcham, cleverly disguising it as an angry post about a 'thief' who had pinched all their moss and weeds. The aim was to generate business for his company, Better View, which specialises in home exterior and window cleaning.
Instead of receiving requests for his services, his comments section exploded with remarks saying he resembled David Beckham, as well as celebrities such as Ryan Gosling and Tom Hardy.
Viral Reaction and No New Work
Despite the post accumulating thousands of likes and comments, Tom disclosed that he has not actually secured any new work from it. He said: "I don't think I have had a single job from it and it is on 1.2 million views."
He added: "I have had quite a few posts go viral over the years but I didn't think this would be like that. It is quite a shock."
Celebrity Comparisons and Gratitude
Fans were swift to draw comparisons to celebrities including Beckham, footballer Harry Kane and singer Gary Barlow. Some compared him to actors Ryan Gosling and Tom Hardy, along with footballer Luke Shaw.
Tom, who launched his business eight years ago, says he is grateful for the kind words. He said: "I am flattered. I have been compared to Harry Kane and Gary Barlow a lot as well as Luke Shaw. Those seem to be the most common ones."
He added: "I am glad I didn't put my mobile on it. There are quite a few people asking for my mobile number now."
