The first trailer for Avengers Doomsday has officially been released online, offering fans a glimpse of Robert Downey Jr's return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the villainous Doctor Doom. The footage, which premiered at CinemaCon Las Vegas three months ago, is now available with minor tweaks.
Robert Downey Jr Returns as Doctor Doom
Directed by the Russo Brothers, who previously helmed Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, Avengers Doomsday serves as a direct sequel to Endgame. Robert Downey Jr reprises his role in the MCU not as Iron Man, who died in Endgame, but as Doctor Doom, a scientific genius and sorcerer from the comics. In the trailer, Doom is masked throughout and displays immense power, stopping Thor's Stormbreaker with a single finger.
Thor and Captain America Return
Chris Hemsworth's Thor dominates the trailer, appearing with the serious, short-haired look last seen in Infinity War. Chris Evans also returns as Steve Rogers, but this time as a younger version, not the aged version from Endgame, and still wielding Mjolnir.
Multiverse Crossover with X-Men and Fantastic Four
Avengers Doomsday marks the first proper Avengers multiverse crossover, bringing together the original X-Men cast and the new MCU Fantastic Four. According to the trailer, the film promises an epic ensemble of heroes and villains.
Release Date
Avengers Doomsday is scheduled to hit cinemas on December 18, 2026.
