Sir David Attenborough, the beloved broadcaster and conservationist, has officially turned 100 years old, adding this milestone to his extraordinary list of achievements. The presenter, who has been a staple of British television for 75 years, is celebrating his centenary with a live BBC One event tonight at the Royal Albert Hall. The show will feature a host of celebrities delivering birthday messages to the man who revolutionised nature documentaries.
A Star-Studded Celebration
From his iconic gorilla encounter to meeting the late Queen Elizabeth II and performing at Glastonbury, tonight's programme will revisit Sir David's most memorable career moments. Special performances are scheduled from Bastille's Dan Smith, Icelandic band Sigur Rós, and British singer Sienna Spiro. Viewers are advised to have tissues ready for what promises to be one of the most emotional television events of the year.
