Anton Du Beke Reveals Childhood Stabbing by Father

Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke has disclosed that he was stabbed by his father as a child. The 57-year-old said the attack occurred on Boxing Day at the family home in Kent, resulting in a three-day hospital stay.

Du Beke told Kate Garraway's Life Stories that his father Antal, who struggled with alcoholism, stabbed him in the leg and stomach. He recalled walking to hospital holding his leg and flagging down a police car, leading to his father's arrest.

The dancer said the incident was the first time he had spoken about it publicly, and he had previously told people he had pulled a hamstring due to embarrassment. His father was later cleared in court of wounding, and Du Beke did not attend his funeral.

Du Beke, who changed his name from Tony Beke to Anton Du Beke for a fresh start, emphasised he does not dwell on the past. He said his motivation for success was not driven by his father, but by a desire to move forward.
