I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! winner Angryginge, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, has revealed he received a torrent of online abuse after intervening against alleged racist remarks at a World Cup match. The 24-year-old social media star attended England's 0-0 draw with Ghana at Boston Stadium on Tuesday and claimed a fellow spectator made derogatory comments about the Ghanaian national team.
Abusive Messages and Public Response
Posts shared on Burtwistle's Instagram story displayed numerous abusive and threatening messages he said he received following the incident. A caption on one post read: "Standing up to racism gets you this? What a world we live in." In a YouTube video posted Thursday, Burtwistle detailed the events, stating: "The man sat in front was making incredibly racist comments towards the Ghanaian national team. Due to this, it was only right for me to stand up and deal with this."
Steward Reaction and Criticism
Burtwistle criticized the stadium stewards for their handling of the situation. He said a steward told him they "can't kick him out" and that the man would only be removed if he made another racist comment, which Burtwistle described as "ridiculous." Although the video showed Burtwistle appearing to leave the area, he later confirmed the alleged offender was not ejected. "Absolutely not good enough from the American stewards," he said. "The message before the games at football is kick it out, if you see it, say it. I've gone and reported it, the guy, he's not been kicked out of the stadium. We saw him as we left. He's been able to watch the whole game after some of the things he was saying about the Ghana team I'm not even going to repeat."
Evidence and Witnesses
Burtwistle emphasized that he had video evidence and five witnesses who heard the remarks. "I think it's an absolute f****** disgrace he's been allowed to stay in and watch the game after having evidence on the vlog," he added. The incident has sparked debate about racism in sports and the effectiveness of stadium protocols. FIFA has been contacted for comment but has not yet responded.
