Amy Dowden was moved to tears during the latest episode of Celebrity Hunted, as she opened up about her cancer journey and the deep personal meaning behind the show.
The Strictly Come Dancing professional, who is taking part in the Channel 4 series with fellow dancer Carlos Gu, said that winning would feel like 'coming full circle' after her battle with breast cancer.
Emotional Scenes
In the episode, Amy spoke about her fear of not being able to have a baby and how important triumphing in the show would be to her. She said: "To beat the Hunters, it would mean more than anything. After the journey I've been on with my own cancer diagnosis, I think it'd be like coming full circle."
She added: "It's not just a game. There's really deep meaning to this."
Hidden with Neil Jones
Amy and Carlos hid at the home of fellow Strictly pro Neil Jones. As Amy played with Neil's three-year-old daughter Havana, Carlos admitted it made his heart 'melt'.
Starting to cry, Amy said: "I've always wanted the honour to be a mum. And obviously I don't know if that's going to be possible."
Life After Cancer
Amy, who was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease at 19, said that a cancer diagnosis 'changes your life forever'. But she added: "I've been given another shot at life, and I want to embrace and take every opportunity that comes my way."
Throwing herself into the show, she shared that she and Carlos were prepared to take a huge 'risk' by attending the 60th birthday party of Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood that evening.
"I can't miss this, because Craig has been such a great support to me, especially after my cancer diagnosis," Amy explained.
Other Celebrities
The current series of Celebrity Hunted, which is raising funds for Stand Up To Cancer, also features EastEnders star Brian Conley with his daughter Lucy, television personalities Scarlette and Stuart Douglas, Love Island stars Chris Taylor and Toby Aromolaran, presenters and disability advocates JJ Chalmers and Sophie Morgan, plus comedians Jen Brister and Laura Smyth. They are all attempting to evade lead Hunter Ray Howard and his team.
