Amanda Owen, star of Our Yorkshire Farm, has admitted she helped write the Tinder dating profile of her ex-husband Clive, who now has a new girlfriend. The admission came during a recent interview in which she also confirmed the pair are not getting back together.
Helping with the dating profile
Amanda, 52, was married to Clive, 70, for 22 years, and the couple share nine children. They separated in 2022, and four years on they remain good friends and continue to work together on their farm in the Yorkshire Dales.
During an interview with the Telegraph, Amanda let slip that Clive had a new girlfriend, partly to clear up speculation that the pair might reunite. In the course of the interview she had a phone call with Clive, during which she told him the publication now knew about his girlfriend.
Why she revealed the news
Amanda said: “We wanted to tell people about his girlfriend because people keep asking if we’re getting back together. No, we’re not getting back together.”
Soon after, her press representative said Amanda had helped write Clive’s dating app profile on Tinder. In response, Amanda admitted: “I did. But it will take a certain sort of person to be able to get the dynamic.”
Amanda on her own dating life
The conversation also turned to whether Amanda herself was dating. She replied that it was not that she did not want to, simply that she was focusing on what she wanted to do: “I’m not, and it’s not because I don’t want to…but it isn’t because I do want to, either.
“I’m just kind of doing my thing, seeing what happens. I’m not against that, but…I’m not particularly actively…Can you imagine me with a Tinder profile? Oh my God.”
Despite the separation, Amanda was full of praise for Clive, a man who she said had her back and whose back she also has. Amanda added: “He get’s me my tea. And you know, it’s just a happier atmosphere now – although I don’t know if it will be when I get back, because he’s already annoying me.”
Reflecting on the split
Amanda and Clive’s dynamic has changed a lot since they separated. In 2023, months after their split, she spoke stoically of their relationship immediately after the life-changing decision was made.
She told the Radio Times: “Look, there are two simple facts: if he thought I was brilliant, and I thought he was brilliant, then we wouldn’t have separated. It’s a fact, isn’t it?
“But, you know what, that’s not unique, it’s just how things are, pressures, all the rest of it. But we have nine kids, with associated friends, girlfriends, and we just have to get on with it.”
